Bradley Reactive Armor (Dragon)

Armorama

The Kit

The set includes seven light tan resin pieces on four pour stubs. Part 1 is the left side hull armor, part 2 is the right side hull armor (as standing on the vehicle facing forward), part 3 is the front armor array, part 4 is the right front turret armor, part 5 is the right side turret armor cluster, part 6 is the armor tile for the mantlet and part 7 is the left front turret armor. The pieces are well molded and I only notice three small pin holes.

The tiles themselves are not well detailed and only vaguely look like the actual armor. The side armor tiles are crisply molded with sharp edges. The front armor array (part #3) looks more like a series of small window panes than bolted on armor tiles.

Instructions

The half page instruction sheet includes a paragraph of what is required to install the armor tiles and several line drawings showing placement of the parts onto the kit pieces. There are no modifications required to install the armor to the Dragon kit; however, Dragon kit parts C9 and C10 (shown unused on the Dragon instruction) must be used in lieu of kit parts C63 and C62 respectively. The instructions recommend installing the armor after the kit is assembled with the exception of the headlight clusters that go on top of the front armor array (part 3).

Conclusion

In conclusion, this is a fairly simple conversion that will net you a different looking Bradley. I recommend it with reservations because of the lack of detail on the armor tiles.

SUMMARY
Verlinden Productions brings us the first set of Bradley High-Survivability Armor Tiles available in 1/72 scale. The set is designed for the Dragon M2A2ODS Bradley kit #7226, but will most likely work with the other two Dragon Bradleys in their line (#7229 and & 7247). It may also work with the Revell M2A2 Bradley.
