As it's the 65th Anniversary of Op Market Garden this year and we finally have some new Allied stuff to build I thought it might be a good one for a campaign. Naturally it covers a huge amount of stuff for Allied and German modellers. The airborne landings/battles ie British Airborne, US 82nd and 101st Airborne. The fight through from British XXX corps with infantry towards Arnhem over The Eindhoven and Nijmegen bridges. From the German side you've got Wehrmacht, SS and Fallschirmjager all involved in the battle with a multitude of vehicles. Naturally given the distance fought over there's a combination of urban and rural settings. The scope is pretty much endless. Anyone fancy it?

I was thinking maybe the beginning of May to the end of November. Would have been nice to finish on Sept 17th but that wouldn't leave us much time so I was thinking a full 6 months. Thoughts anyone? Glad that people like the idea as it gives pretty much free reign over ideas. I'm going to be doing British Paras liasing with Dutch resistance. Probably in an urban setting with a couple of knocked out German vehicles. Thinking about I will need the full 6 months

Cool! We've got enough now to do a campaign submission! I'm already in my research phase so get the books out chaps as I have a feeling this will be a good one! I've started doing my list of stuff I need

Geraint, it was the 9th/10th SS pz divs refitting in Arnhem. If you need any help with anything you only need to ask and someone will always have the answer for you. Thats what I've always found

Oh no... the stockpile has started. Been buying figures and looking at buildings. Vehiclewise I'm very tempted by a Stug III, a Hanomag (both disabled) and an airborne jeep with trailer. I have a nasty feeling that this could be a big dio if the campaign is approved

You're right on that one milv! Top subject to do. Try Arnhem by Martin Middlebrook dug my copy out again to start reading again. From a German view Sons Of The Reich by Michael Reynolds is good as it's the history of II SS panzer Corps. Been wanting to do an Arnhem dio for years!

Ok, it will definitely NOT be a 251-version, not even a 250....
I cooked up an idea that will only involve figures.....

I was even planning a field trip to do the Market Garden-route, starting at the Dutch-Belgian border and ending in and around Arnhem. Turns out that there is not much to see, except for Arnhem and Hartenstein is beeing rebuild for the festivities in september...
damn....

This dio is getting bigger the more I plan...LOL. I've ordered the Miniart garage as I've had the idea of having that as Regimental Aid Post with a mixture of wounded Paras and wounded SS prisoners in there. There's a couple of Great North roads buildings I quite fancy for the street (adjoining the garage). My stockpile is growing

What are the tank options in allied side? Regular shermans, 105mms, fireflies? M10?

Were the XXX Corps only tank force in allied side during OMG or did the yanks use some too?

Thanks,
Tuomas

P.S OMG = Operation Market Garden

Tuomas, the only Allied armoured forces were British as it was their job to pass over all the bridges captured creating a corridor for an armoured thrust into Germany. Vehiclewise you're pretty much spoilt for choice. Shermans, Sherman Fireflies, Churchills, Cromwells etc plus the usual assortment of AFV's as Corps resources, armoured cars, softskins, halftracks etc.
