Since the release of the Stryker kits, I wanted to do an engineer version. This is the AFV Stryker; I made the blast panels from Evergreen plastic.

Once I finished up on the Stryker I started on the plow. I started out by making the V-plow but decided for the longer angled plow.

Lower section of the main frame

Upper section of the main frame attached to the front hull frame.

Whole frame.

This is the V-plow, like I said I changed it out for the angled plow.

Plow blade plates.

Springs were made from fine wire wraped around a small drill bit.

The Lane Marking System Dispenser Units.

The many poles

Next comes the daunting task of the slat-armor…again. I’ll post more as some as I start.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

More can be seen here,

Stryker ESV AMP

Truly awe inspiring. Your scratchbuilding is second to none. I went through the photos going "there's more" the whole time. The attention to detail in the springs is amazing. Just great work. Cant wait until it's all put togeather. Have you every thought about maybe casting this stuff and making your own conversion sets? I've always thought about getting a casting set at Hobby Lobby but Im not able to scratch the originals like you.

Absolutely stunning. Such clean scratch work. I know you've heard this but it is shame this couldn't be cast. Always an inspiration.

I didnot see you for a while but it seems that you have been really busy.
This kit is so great the details, the cut are you using your hands ??
It seems that it is machine.

What will be release in fall ??
Are you going to open your own AM company or what ?????
I hope to see more of this conversion
Cheers

Joe and I plan to open our very own Opium farm in 1/35 scale. If all goes well, we'll go to 1/1.

In all hobbyness, I've seen Joe work firsthand. He is very good and very fast. Unless he was just trying to impress me that particular day. I told him I was already seeing someone.

Bloody brilliant Joe! The precision and cleanliness of your scratch building is outstanding, really inspires me to keep plugging away with the damned evergreen sheets!

Where did you source all the research for this? I dont think i'll ever be able to scratch build one, but hopefully if Trumpeter release such a set some reference might come in handy for detailing.

Very impressive! You wear a Black Belt in the Kung Fu school of scratch building.
One question, (among many), how do you make the square holes in the Plow blade plates, consistant so many times?

@ Seb - no machine, most of the work was using my hobby knife, metal ruler and L-shape metal square. No plans on opening up a company, just some bits here and there, still need to work out some details.

@ Arnie -

@ Rob - most of the reference came from the books, Prime Portal and online photos. In addition, Arnie helped with some measurements from his Blast set.

@ KoSprueOne - I started out just cutting the plow blade plates first, and then I scored a line for the angle. Then I just smaller strips and glued in place with liquid cement (Ten-X). once dry I sanded to blend in…oh on the back side, I filled in the score line with super glue followed by a accelerator. At first I was at a lost about going at them, this is what I came up with.

Again thanks for the great comments, I am still learning new tricks as I go along.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

If so, let me know. You are on the "good guy" list.

Well after a lengthy break to finish a few other projects I was able to get back to this one. I finished most of the slat armor except for the rear section, which I am working on now. The upper and lower slat section was replaced using Evergreen 1.5mm square rod, as were the support bars. I weathered the Stryker first before installing the slat armor making easier. Once all the slat armor is finished, I will weather them and finish up.

I used Tamiya paints that I mixed and diluted heavily using rubbing alcohol, followed by MMP weathering powders.

I may use some of the pieces of gear and such, haven’t decided which.

I’m also deciding to use a Rhino and Duke, either one or the other or both.

More to follow.

Happy Modeling,
Joe
