Operational Overview In 1914 Glenn Curtis produced his "American" Flying boat,of which several were acquired by the Royal Naval Air Service to be tested by their Seaplane Experimental Station.this turned into the Felixstowe F.1 for coastal patrols and hunting U-boats. The Curtis NC-4 became the first airplane to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. In the 1920's and 30's,flying boats made it possible to have regular air transport between the U.S. and Europe, opening up air travel routes to South America,Africa, and Asia.Where land-based aircraft lacked the range to travel long distances,Flying boats could stop anywhere there was water and then refuel.the worlds military recognized the value of the long distance use for patrols and anti-sub patrol, most of the worlds navy used Sea Planes on their ships for scouting and shell spotting.by the end of WW2 the use of Flying Boats rapidly decline, though the U.S. Navy used them to the Early 1970's.the use of Fly boats and Sea planes is now relegated to island chains and the vast emptiness of Alaska,Canada, and Africa The Rules and Regs The rules are simple:
