Just published, an in-depth look at Compendium Films' instructional DVD “Painting & Finishing Military Figures with Rob Henden”. Whist the DVD fails to deliver all it promises, it provides nonetheless for an interesting programme with much to be learnt.

Agreed Rudi the DVD is worth the money, is aimed at the beginner and large-scale figure builder. There is one small problem with the sound (inner ear problem intensifies sounds problems), it is only present when you watch the DVD on a TV.

I must dissagree on the beginner comment though, as I feel that it's targeted at someone that is comfortable with painting figures as well as using an airbrush (as a fair amount of control is needed to master the techniques displayed here).

I must admit I only viewed the DVD on my laptop, but did so through 2 different applications. What sound problem did you experience? Other than Darth Vader

Rudi the reason I said beginner is that it was a straightforward build and the painting, even though it is via airbrush is pretty straightforward too.

Except for the Darth Vader feature the sound has a 'tapping' quality. This 'tapping' is not too noticeable, but inner ear problems mean it made me nauseous.

I ended up returning the DVD to The Airbrush Company Ltd, from whom I received excellent service. IIRC I spoke to Alex at The Airbrush Company and all DVDs had the same quality.

The DVD for me, was not what I expected and agree that the title should have been airbrushing a figure. If it was for a beginner he/she would have to have a big wallet to purchase all the kit, two airbrushes, compressor, etc. While it did give some good tips and the idea to have a dabble with my airbrush it was not my best view. I would however watch it again and probably again.
