pseudo review..... ROFL!
1. first impressions.....
what a thrill opening this one was! lots of resin parts on their casting plugs and a piece of
wire.
2. the cupola....
cleanup was a straight line job with a carefull hand on some of the smaller parts and watch how you deal with the sheet of resin in the cupola opening... its thick and will form the rim of the metal opening so dont gouge it out or you'll have a very difficult time repairing it
i added the busy looking perescope mounting gubbins, but to be honest once the figures in place they will be almost invisible!
if i do this model again i will remove the welds from the cupola base to get a better fit on the
periscope covers.... the mg ring was a swine to get level and ended up on a piece of mirror weighted down with slowset thick CA..there's a slight wobble on it but only just
checked refs and realised there are two hatch guides missing... one stops the hatch swinging too far when the commander operates it from inside. and the other is a drop guide into its closed position... these were easily made with laminated plasticard.
the other huge ommision is the direct sight... fabrication from scrap ally and plasticard was
easy enough.
milliput welds hopefully tie it all together!
3. the AA mount and the MG.....
cleanup was not a problem but care again on the very delicate detail on this beautifull MG...
the components were cleaned up and the wire bend cut and shaped...
i was unhappy with the idea of a solid setup on this as fitting the figure later might be a
problem.... so i made it fully ( ish ) operable! lol...quite easy to do , drill out the swing joint and pin/ washer it and fabricated the mounting point on the gun so that i can pin it to the end of the arm....
(it is almost all frozed with CA now but made fitting the figure less.... headache inducing)
happy with it i undercoated in an acrylic primer red car undercoat... it looks like a very heavy
chunk of hardware and i learned alot about a part of german tanks that i had barely considered previously
mark
erm... about the spelling and punctuation......
yeah ok.......
there is'nt much! but look at the pretty pictures... its what i mostly do lol
