"Hi Rick how does that Mosin shoot?

Jeff- Shoots really well with good ammo. Winnchester works best so far. A few more brands to trial. Have not sighted in(range) the new scope, leaving that to Ben. He'll be home mid-January for a while and then back to the border for the Winter Olympics. Having the bipod worked on as the mount catch needs some fine tuning to stay mounted.
Was thinking about making a detachable muzzle brake for extended practice range time but recoil butt pad works far better than I hoped. Over a hundred rounds one afternoon with very little discomfort that was gone by next morning.
These shoot pretty accurate only when CLEAN. When first bought I spent easy 6+ hours,3 differant solvents,2 bronze/1 SS bore brushes, and a 5$ bag of patches to get this 'normal'. Now only takes 15 minutes or so after a session. Still debating if I want to build one for me or spend more$$ for something else.( M1A1 or Gibbs Springfield replica, or?)
Also, I noticed I need both earplugs and earcup protection on the range. 7mm Magnums w/built in muzzle brakes are way loud. 54mm Black Powder rifles re-define 'muzzle blast' I flinch when I'm watching the guy pull the trigger!!! Nobody stands closer than 15ft. to the shooter when they are on line!
More on range banging later.
Merry Christmas to all my fellow styrene manglers!
Rick
