I actually got these two mini vignettes / figures finished. I bought the pair of them Oct last year at a show, got them built up and primed and Ive been doing bits and pieces to them while stuck in this stupid cast. Both are very loosely based on the film 'VanHelsing' and are by Fontegris models.

Hi Sam,

Nice work. I realise it may simply be the photo lighting, but the one spot in particular that I reckon could use some more highlights and shadows are the weapons. Also, the barrel on the lady's gun appears to be unpainted? Not quite sure...

What are your impressions of the Fontegris products? They've quite a few items which rather appeal to me.

Hi Rudi,
I had only done the base coat on the weapons when the pic was taken (they were still drying) they are now weathered. I just got to the point I wanted them together The gun barrel is a pale gold.

The Frontegris ones I did I spent a good year trying to decide if I should get them. I first saw them at Telford 2008 and when I saw the painted versions on the box art and the casting I was seriously put off big time. However I liked the subject matter I have a thing about Werewolves and Vampires (proper ones not this stupid Twilight series that seems to have gone stupid).

I took the plunge and bought them at a local show before Telford last year. The fit on both of the kits was poor in areas hence why I opted to use scatter grass as the werewolf and crypt is one piece that fits to the base and the amount of filling and sanding I had to do ruined a lot of ground detail.

It was the same for the VanHelsing figure on the Vampire set where he locates on the base.

Quite a few seam lines needed to be sorted out as well. I pretty sure most of the problem with fit especially the werewolf one is they sell the Werewolf with crypt and girl as a mini vignette and the Anna figure by herself. I know they also sell the VanHelsing figure by himself. I get the feeling the bases were done but the locating areas were over estimated. It would have been better if there was a tight fit rather than it swimming round.

Overall Im still dubious about some of the other figures etc they do as the casting does look odd and the paint jobs don't seem to do them justice. The worse for this is the Blade Daywalker one they have done Ive seen the casting of his face and it reminded me of a cartoon deform.

I think if you really want to have a go at one get it and see how it turns out Im really glad I gave in and got mine

Nice job! Especially on the pale vampire skin. So what are you going to paint next?

LOL! Finally a girl that doesn't like Twilight! Personally I can't stand Twilight and Vamp Diaries either. True Blood though... absolutely loved the first 2 seasons, and can't wait to see the third. Haven't read the books though.

Have you seen the Nocturna Queen of the Dead/Damned? She's pretty nice. I think there's a review on HF somewhere.

No I have not I'll have a look for it.

Nope really cannot stand Twilight/ Vamp Diaries etc. Im into the older gothic Vampires/ Werewolves/ Horror I don't mind the Ann Rice Vampire Chronicles though the only 3 I love is Interview, Vampire Lestate, Queen of the Damned (thought the film was dreadful of this one)
