This is my next Box-art for Stu, for his Black-sheep range and I'm going to try and have it done for Euro

It's kit number BS120/01 and is available from here

This kit has a relatively high parts count and so required a bit of time for the clean-up.

The fit is excellent and after removing the casting blocks, cleaning a few seams, washing and undercoating I got on with the skin parts.

A bit of work still to do refining the finish but essentially done

Nice start, Mark. Is it just me or does this figure's neck seem rather long? (And yes, I know people come in different shapes and sizes )

Mark looks like it's going to be a real nice figure, great face tones. BTW the neck dose look a bit on the long side.

Rudi!...... thanks and I managed to not push the head all the way into the neck socket! so while Stu models longer necks than some others, It' not really that long

Face is almost there, extreme enlargement always shows the tiniest flaws and really helps in getting a nice finish. Notice the eye on the right hand side face? there is a flash of white from under the top lid ... !? I will sort it out at the start of the next painting session

Working on the uniform

This is Lifecolor Field Grey 2 as a base, darkened with AV Black and lightened with AV Light Flesh ....

i really like the way you create your flesh tones on your figures mate and this one is no exception, look forward to seeing more of this one.

Working on the leather ... Usual mix of colours for this, AV Black base and then lined and blocked with GW Blazing Orange, Snakebite Leather and Scorched Brown... Added a touch of AV Light Flesh to the Snakebite for final picking out, Blocked back in with GW Chaos Black

Wow. You are really good! I am new here and am wondering if you could explain the abbreviations you use for the paint. AV, GW, Ect. I am guessing they are all oils? Is this figure going to be completely painted by brush? Sorry to bug you but I am very jealous and want to paint like you!! That face and leather are stunning. You can see in his eyes he is very tired. Very impressive!!

Frank .... Thanks Leather was always one of those things I dreaded painting

No problem and welcome All paints are acrylics and AV is for Vallejo, GW for Games Workshop The uniform was sprayed with a cheap airbrush to get the shadows and highlights down and then sharpened up with conventional brushes, everything else is done with a size 0 and a size 3/0 brush ( Creative Models )

Working on the equipment .....

One of my favourite parts of doing this kind of figure is the various bits and bobs hanging from belts and webbing, as it allows me to fiddle about with details, lots of little details that hopefully add to the visual interest of the piece without distracting from the face ... Kindathing! fun anyway

Finally stuck the head on the end is in sight with this piece but still a lot to do, next I need to fix the ammo pouches and arms ....

Arms are now fixed in place, touched up bits and bobs and base coated the boots, most small details are now done and the equipment just needs some graphite on the metallic parts, used the Peddinghaus set EP 1447 for the stick grenades ( thanks again Carl! ) ....

Note! I coated the grenade head with a couple of coats of Klear, after it had dried I placed the decals in a layer of Klear and again allowed to dry, then used a W&N Acrylic Matt Varnish to flatten it back down, some chips applied with dark green finished the painting

Equipment finished and in place, probably some tiny tweaks to do, but ......

Any chance of a bit of a sbs on the wooden handles ?

Thanks I thought I had done an SBS on woodwork previously, but I can't find it Basically the base is something light ( AV Light Flesh ) then do lines and washes of black, reds and greys then use the light base colour to do some very neat fine lines. Finally I mix a Browny red with some Klear and layer that over it all. I'll do a proper Mini SBS and post it up here ( after Euro )

Hands and gun fixed!

The sling is paper so once I get the figure fixed to the base I'll wet it and weight it and it will hang a bit better .... I hope!

Base works .....

Made a stack of bricks and got on with it! Figure is now fixed to base and a fair bit of tweaking to go

Finished!....

Probably..... will let this cool off for a few days and check it over for any tiny bits I may have missed Been a fun figure.
