Once upon a time there was a boy (me), who loved to play games on his (my) computer. Then he (I) grew up to be a very hansome man .

After some time he (I) found a rare club where people built models, and then he(I) got hooked, but there still was a part of him (me) that loved games. Then there was a novel idea born. How about combining the two.

This tread is the story of the Half Life 2 episode 2 diorama!

I started with the most fun part, the vehicle!! This model is done and it has done real good in exhibitions/competitions (2 first places).

"The Freemans Ride" started it's life as a Revell -69 Dodge Charger R/T. Then my plasticsaw got to it... There is a few small modifications to the model, but the list is too long to post here. Look at the pictures.

And now for the real fun part! The figures!

Problem with this diorama idea is: There is wery few 1:24 figures, so as the stubborn man I am, I started sculpting!

This is a "before" picture of my sculpting skills. It's the only sculping I have ever tried, so I hope my next try is better!

Incoming Combine soldiers!

I made an armature of copperwire found in a few feet of electrical wire I ripped down from my wall. The wires was of course not in use (i might be stupid, but I'm not an idiot!!). I soldered the wires together i the shape of a human, and positioned them in a nice soldier stance(?).

I made the first basic human shape with epoxy putty, the kind you get in a discount hardwarestore. Cheap and good enough.

The details of my litte army of two I made using Greenstuff, I should wish I had some better stuff but GS was all I could get my hands on fast.

I played the games about 20 times using the screengrab function alot to get some pictures of the Combine's. And with the help of those pictures I have nearly done both soldiers, a few minor details and they are redy to paint.

First look. Need to do arms, hands and the body armour:

ZOMBIE ATTACK!

Nice. The Combine soldier looks good and I'm waiting to see the headcrab fully painted.

I thought the car had some sort of energy gun but I can't remember if it was roof mounted or on the engine area.

The energy gun was on the buggy/scout car . But that was not as nice looking as the Charger, plus the Charger was a kit ready to be modified...

Very original idea and nice sculpting.

Ok! One more part done! I have finsihed my first painted figure ever!

The Zombie is ready to fit into the not yet started diorama. I need to start the groundwork soon. I know im working a bit backwards, most people start with groundwork and fit the figures into the landscape. I need to make a landscape fit my first figures.

I have used both citadel and vallejo paints. Both acrylics. Last step is to put on a matte clearcoat. I thought i should leave the zombie on a shelf for a few days, and then look at it to see if there is something I would like to change.

Combine Soldier 2 ready, next on my todo list is Combine Soldier 1. (CS2 vas easier to paint so I started with him.)
