When painting figures, I follow the usual practice of working from the inside out: start with flesh and add subsequent layers of clothing as I work my way out, just like getting dressed. But in the case of my current project, there are two WWI Imperial German figures: a ground crewman helping a pilot don his heavy flying suit over his service uniform. I'm sure some of you are familiar with this ubiquitous set in 1/48 scale, and also available in 1/32 (54mm).
Anyways, one of the crewman's hands is moulded onto the pilot's shoulder. Should I approach it the same way, painting the flesh on each figure concurrently and then working around the hand as I paint the pilot's uniform? Or, would it be best to wait until the pilot is finished before tackling the hand?
TIA
