a couple of days ago Fred (jptrr)asked me how my railway modelling was doing, and although I've not touched anything rail related in the last couple of years i did mention i built a BR 9f class dapol issue loco.
after a bit of nosing around I've found some construction shots and some of the 99% finished kit, its been in the garage for a while and it was only after i dug it out yesterday i realised there were still some small details to complete to truly finish her.

in the beginning! the train colours i picked up at a model show at a bargain price.

as usual on these kits i replaced as much of the moulded on details with wire, the handrail uses aftermarket knobs and handrail wire

strangely enough, whilst in the middle of this build a hornby 9f evening star arrived at my house!

a couple more views of some of the detailing work, this is simply pieces of computer wire that i could bend to the shapes required, added to the kit part

Thanks for the photos! She built up nicely. Maybe some pix or a video of the Hornby 9F in the near future, too?

Also, is that a Matchbox Ju 188 I spy in the background? What's it's progress?

the last two pics in my opening post are about 4 months old, the 188 was being built as my entry in the matchbox nostalgia campaign. i took a couple of pics of the 9f to put on another forum i am a member of, called nottstalgia. its a forum for us nottingham people to talk about the good old days, and has a lot of really interesting stuff about the now mostly gone railway network.
