Just enlisted as some kind of bet with Frank. First I thought of entering the same bust but then I chose the ACW Trumpeter from MIG.

Cheers

Howdy Y'all
Would a 1:9 scale Sci-Fi Gorilla bust be allowed? I have a Nemrod figure bust that looks like it might have been inspired by the characters in a 'Planet of the Apes' movie.
Let me know and I'll join if allowed.
Thanks,
Don "Lakota"

Am I REALLY the first one to show any progress? It's impossible!

I'm in the middle of painting Georgios' face:

Howdy Y'all
I just joined with my 1/9 Nemrod Gorilla Bust. I have a question, this my first bust, do the busts have to be mounted on a rod? I've seen this done often but was wondering if this is standard practice.

I have a photo beside the 1/48 GAZ 67 I am buidling for the Car Dealership Campaign on Armorama.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Awesome ape

As for the rod - in my opinion it depends on the base you want to put the bus on. Rod rises the bust a little giving impression that the bust is not a part of a base and is lighter and taller... (I don't know how to describe it otherwise). If you don't use standard shape (a sharp cornered, cuboid or cylindrical block) you may give the rod up and attach the bust in other interesting way - whatever looks good and fits you .

Don, Scibor's Monstrous Miniatures' bust is great example of bust assembled without any rod:

Hi Paul
Have order several, this one

is the one i would like for this campaing.
Regarding your bust I think you could still push a bit of the highlights and shadows to increase the contrast....IS great the way that you take the picture from the top and that should be helpful to set the highlights (anything clearly seen from above should have a high highlight!!

Well done

HF campaings are usually the quiet ones... For some reason many more people find painting a tank or a plane more interesting than painting the figure...

Today evening I plan to finish basecoating the vest of Georgios (in reds) and start painting yellow embroidery (I HATE painting yellows... )
