German Reed Green?

Can anyone suggest a base colour for the German Army cotton drill summer uniform?The colour is listed as "reed green",and of course varies a bit because of wear and different dye lots.I prefer enamels for uniforms but am willing to try acrylics if neccesary.Any help is much appreciated,thanks...Murray McLennan

Hi Murray
I use Humbrol enamels, and have used Hu111 German field Grey for this. I believe this OOP but can still be found at some stockists or online. Worst case, you could take any mid-grey and add some green. As you say, there were many variations, so eye-balling the colour should be good enough. MIG Productions have an oil colour for this. It can be thinned with enamel thinners and used for painting.
