Looking good

Thank you Van. I have a little more done on my project but not much. Just some gap filling and seam removal.

OK I'm in.

Glad to have you Dave. Looking forward to a dino of some type. From the looks of the other entries....maybe a nice plant eater!! LOL

Forgot it was an august 1 start!

Hi Paul. Looking forward to seeing your finished insect. As soon as I saw your entry I thought of the Disney movie "A Bug's Life"

Glad to see the involvement in this campaign. Now......if I can just get in some modeling time.

Thanks,
Randy

Paul, great to have you join. I admit A Bug's Life was also the first thing I thought when I saw your kit choice. It would be fun to try to capture the cartoon character from the movie if you decide that insect realism is too daunting at that scale, just a fun suggestion.

Harv, I am also at about the same point as you. The bear's head is now on the body and I've detailed her jaws and mouth and also started on the relatively arduous process of filling the seams around the neck and belly, doubly difficult to hide compared to the horse that I did previously because of the engraved fur coat. I will take a quick progress shot soon, maybe tonight.

I will get back to it in a big way once I finish up a couple other campaign entrys that are almost done as I found a new source of motivation this weekend. My girlfriend and I were hiking in the Shenandoah National Park last weekend and we came across two young black bears foraging for food near the trail on one of our hikes. It was an incredible (but short-lived) experience before they turned around and disappeared back into the brush. I consider myself lucky for the experience considering how few people get to see bears during their National Park visits. Luckily there was no mother around though, we were only about 30 yards away from each other before bear and human realized each others presence.

Been a while since the last progress report... why?

Progress has ground to a near halt, as I hide the big ugly seams all over the mama black bear. After sanding I have had to re-scribe fur line all over this beast. She is mostly ready for paint now I feel, time to tackle to two cubs.

I need to paint some of these for a model railroad display would they count for this campaign? The animals are 1/4 inch scale.

I intend to paint some Jersey Cows and Calf's for the Natural World Campaign.
Here is a photo of a few of the animals. This is appropriate for me since I live in a dairy producing County in Kentucky.

Here is another in-progress photo of my entry.

I re-did the base and added some rocks and lichen. I can see that I need to go back and add more sand. I made a wood base to place everything on as I thought it would look better once everything is completed. I put a base coat on the buffalo and the prairie dogs and then I noticed the gaps and seam lines that I missed so I had some filling and scraping to do. I found out that I didn't have any filling putty so I had to settle for some Zap-A-Gap. Anyway I have made a little progress but not much. Hopefully I will be able to get more work done on it soon.

Thanks,
Randy

Hello everyone. Happy New Year to all.

Been pretty quiet here on this campaign. As for myself I have done a little work on my entry but not too much. One of the colors that I was going to use on the buffalo didn't go as planned. I open the bottle of paint and it had turned into a useless blob of an almost hard jelly type of goo. So I had to order more and it and some other supplies I ordered should be here this coming week. No local hobby shops in my area so all of my modeling supplies have to be ordered. So hopefully by next weekend I should have some updated in-progress photos to post.

I don't know why they wouldn't be Brent. We will have to see what Van has to say about them.

Hopefully we will have some others post some in-progress photos soon.

Thanks,
Randy

Sorry guys, going to drop out of this one. The project just kept getting worse instead of better. Feel free to use the banner and ribbon if you like. I will keep watching to see everyone's progress and finished entries.

Thanks,
Randy

Did anybody finish this one?

I kinda forgot but I am still plowing away at it and should have it finished by the end of June. I'll post up my pics on the campaign page or photobucket, or should I just post them to unfinished business?

Paul
