Guys, I'm really really sorry for the delay in awards and my latest lack of presence on the forum.
Situation at home and at work keeps me far away from the forum, from the pc at all and lately even from painting (my models and figures are stored in the boxes somewhere in the basement (so is my Vader costum) and for the moment I don't even have a place for my hobby)
I'll do my best to give you your awards today or tommorow.

Once again: I've very sorry for the current situation...
I hope you all will forgive me!

Fantastic work mates. Unfortunately I had to give up this time. Hopefully there will be part III of bust campaign soon.

Congratulations to all that participated and those that finnished. Heres my contribution.

Its the Classic Fort Duqesne bust of Robert Newton in his famous portraying of Long John Silver in the Movie Treasure Island based on the Richard Louis Stephenssns novel with the same name. One of my favourite novels and Movies.

Just a few new pics to show where I am at currently.....



Just needs the eyes re-painting, followed by a layer of Tamiya smoke then he(it) will be done.



Although I might leave the over drydrush on the eyes and see what a coating of smoke does anyway, might look intresting.






The base I came up with is constructed from the spare feet from our bathroom scales, sprayed with a very shiny silver which I gave a matt coat to and I am in a process of glazing with a light sepia tone to alter it's base colour.

As for airbrushing - I didn't use a retarder so I had to be carefull to avoid clogging of nozzle and spitting effect. It was difficult at first, but the bust is so nicely sculpted that it was pleasure to paint it.

Pete, some hardly accesable imperfections seem to be main issue with the one piece busts... (and smalle figures too). Fortunately my Matrona was in 5 pieces (torso, head, two pieces of hair and metal earring) so it was quite easy to clean even the minor imperfections.

Andrzej It is 1/10 and there were a few inperfections on the face under the mask which I couldn't remove, but other than that it was enjoyable.

Now your work is outstanding. Very impressed. How did you find airbrushing the figure at the start?

I've finished my Matrona some time ago but had some problems with camera... anyway - here she is. I do hope you like her.

I started slabbing on some paint on my bust during a meet the previous weekend. Im still putting on the base colours to have a nice Surface Before painting shadows and highlights. I hope to have it ready for som in progress pictures soon.

Not mentioning that in Rome black unibrow was considered "beauty", so girls used to paint their brows with soot and as close to nose as possible to achieve that look...
Well, I am NOT going to do that

And some argue as make-up was expensive and luxury in that era. It was more important to show that you had it rather than to look natural.

I've been using boxart of this bust as a reference:

BTW, I started with more typical shape of make-up, but I've figured that whole thing may look more interesting the way Lorenzo Bartolomei painted it.
