1700's Uniform Grey-white

The Osprey Books on Louis XV French uniforms describe colors as "grey-white". Does that simply mean pale grey?

It simply means undyed woollen cloth, which is in its natural color a grayish dirty off-white. States used it because dyed fabric was too expensive for mass armies, similarly to the Austrian army of the era for example.
