Algeria Taboo In France?

It happens that a French artist (not a military modeler) has said that it was when it came up. So same story here?

Some context, please? Do you mean discussion of Algeria is taboo in France because of colonial history that many wish to forget? I doubt it would be taboo here on Kitmaker as long as it's in reference to building models - we accept any historical discussion as exactly that - a discussion of things that have been. I'm sure the Holocaust and WW2 generally are far more "taboo" than anything that happened in Algeria, but that doesn't keep them off the forums!

Are French people willing to depict and discuss it or not.
The problem is less colonialism (France had a bunch like other European powers) but how France politically lost Algeria despite their military victories. In fact, the movie "Umbrellas Of CHerbourg" had a young man who was drafted to go fight in Algeria.

As has been said in the past about posts like this .... What has it to do with modelling ? Very little as far I can see.
