Is there any specific kind of putty or will reglar sculpting putty work.
The concrete will probably work best.

For concrete road you can pour plaster (artists plaster) over a mold and make it a bit texturized with the old toothbrush , or more "wildly " texturized with a fine steelbrush by hitting it over the suface. For sculpt work ,i use epoxy putty of 2 components when needed .

I always enjoy hearing from people on what worked for them. I have used candle Gel for water and it looks good - I learned this from another modeler on a forum - stuff like this is always good!

It's always a pleasure to see ideas box opened like you do. that's why this website is always improving !
Let's back to suggestion :

1° Definitively I want to know good techniques to do trees, brushees, etc.. Kevin, your idea on what to pick in a forest walk is excellent. You could do for example the list of the product, manufactured or natural, which could be used for Europe, Pacific, palm trees etc...and not SBS on a specific product for a specific tree. I think it allows modeller more creativity if you furnish them the materials and some how to, rather than the only option to copy a finished product.

2° in addition to the beginner and pro sections, you could make a difference between expensive techniques and cheap ones (but which work !). I take an example : you want to reproduce a road with cobblestone. You could buy "carton plume" (don't know the english word), and carve the cobblestones, or directly buy a ready to paint cobblestone section. Or you could glue lentils and partially cover them with plaster, at nearly no cost. Many of us are young and moneyless, they will always prefer cheaper materials..

3° Linked to the second, when you do step by step try to keep in mind some of us have little equipement : For example I do not have an airbrush, and I figure many of us are in the same case. If you do a sbs on "how to build and paint with an airbrush a tree", this could be useless for many of us..

4° Maybee a sbs to explain how to take good pictures of our models : lights, angle, background etc..

5° Lastly and as a general comment, If you do a SBS for groundwork, it could be usefull if you explain in the same SBS how to do desert ground, forest ground, muddy ground, iced ground etc.

Hey Castas, names Casey. Ive been building models for about 12 years now, but im working on my first diorama. I want to do a ww1 trench system theme and I was wondering if you have ever done anything of the sort. If so, then perhaps you wouldnt mind sharing afew words of advice.

Casey the last post in this thread is nearly three years old I'd advise posting a new thread in this forum or on the armorama diorama forum asking for advice- title it "Advice on making a ww1 trench system" you should get loads of help.
