There was a company called Horizon that made 1/8 scale vinyl kits of comic book characters. I don't know if they are still around but maybe on ebay. There's another company called Playing Mantis that makes a Spiderman kit which I think is a re-release of a very old Aurora-type kit.

Toy Bix did a line of Marvel Comic figures in plastic. I'm not sure if they are still available.

These WizKid kits are pretty decent. The Beast is nice, Thor is OK, his muscles are a bit overstated, the Ghost Rider is a bit to comic-ish but not terrible.
