It is so good to see Vladimir Demchenko never gets tired of sculpting nice Vietnam figures and BRAVO-6 keeps releasing more characters from Oliver Stone’s famous movie – Platoon.

The sixth figure of the series is a supporting character from the movie, the eccentric leader of the Underworld,Private Rhah acted by Italian actor Francesco Quinn.

The figure comes well packed in standard BRAVO-6 light brown 50x80x25 mm cardboard box . The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figure which can serve as a painting guide. On the other side of the box; e-mail address and website of the company is noted.

The parts are represented with the casting blocks and all are inserted in a small plastic zip-lock bag to avoid unexpected damages during transfer.

A water-slide decal sheet including name tags, rank insignia and division/unit badges is also represented inside the box. The unit patches, rank and name tags are in black lettering on OD Green color background.

The figure is sculpted by Russian sculptor and owner of BRAVO-6 Vladimir Demchenko and comes in 13 medium grey resin parts; 5 body parts and 8 pieces of personal gear. Note that some equipment parts inside the BRAVO-6 boxes are optional for the figure included on the kit.

The resin quality is very good and details are crisp. No air bubbles, excess resin or any casting mistakes on the figure. The junctions between figure parts and casting blocks were well placed and the parts can be easily removed from the blocks with no damage. There will be no need for a X-acto knife cleaning or sanding , just a wash will make it ready to prime or paint.

  • The main part is Body with legs. Some parts of personal gear is cast on the body. He wears typical US Army tropical combat uniform with 4 flip-top cover pockets jacket and trousers with 2 flip-top cover cargo pockets on the sides. He has black leather- Olive drab canvas jungle boots on his feet. Cloth folds of the uniform, half-loaded cargo pockets, seam on the skirts of jacket and ties of boots are well defined. M-1956 LCE ( Load Carrying Equipment) which consists of canvas utility belt and equipment suspenders with M-16 ammo pouches are sculpted on the figure. The figure is heavy-loaded with a horizontal tied M-16 ammo bandolier on the front side of his body, a canvas bag on the right side with a long strap crossed on left shoulder and a ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam) rucksack , also known as Ranger Pack, an external X-steel framed pack with two big rectangular flapped pockets. Fully loaded compartments, buckles and straps of the backpack, ammo bandolier and its strap are all well represented. Remember to remove the supporting casting part under the rucksack when assembling your figure.

  • Head : The face is nicely sculpted and shows a good accuracy to the Rhah figure on the movie with his goatee beard. He wears a Boonie hat. Boonie hat is a form of wide-brim hat commonly used by militaries. Its design is similar to a bucket hat but with a stiffer brim. Often a fabric tape band of branch loops is sewn around the crown of the hat. This foliage ring is meant to hold additional vegetation as camouflage or to carry personal items in Nam war. The vents on the both sides of the hat and foliage ring are well defined on the figure’s hat.

  • Right arm : Posed to carry the M-16 rifle. It shows nice cloth folds.

  • Left arm : Posed to carry the Rhah stick. The unit patch is sculpted on the sleeve for the modelers who prefers paintwork to decals.

  • Left hand : He carries the Rhah Stick. I noticed that the last scene of the movie-Platoon shows a piece of barbed wire is coiled on the top of Rhah Stick. The same detail can be seen on the 12 inch action figure of Rhah. (Photo). You may simulate this detail using 1:35 scale barbed wire or scratching from copper wire.

    Other parts are;

  • M16A1 rifle ; Right hand is sculpted with the rifle and details of the M16A1 like carrying handle, front sight assembly and flash suppressor are well defined.

  • M-1956 One quart plastic canteen in canvas cover

  • KA-BAR Combat knife ; This part will be assembled on the left harness of the rucksack.

  • M7 Bayonet in M8A1 Scabbard ; optional part for this figure.

  • M61 Fragmentation Hand Grenade aka M26A1 - 4 pieces ; can be optionally placed on both sides of M-16 ammo pouches.

Very nice addition to Platoon characters series . Very nice sculpt with great accuracy to the movie character, high quality casting in crisp details and decal sheet bonus. Another unique figure to paint for all Nam modelers and especially for Platoon's fans.

A good point I noticed for BRAVO-6 is the effort to improve the quality of their figures and the importance they gave to feedbacks. BRAVO-6 changed the patches color from yellow to OD Green after the first comments and now I see they corrected more points mentioned in reviews and forum talks. In this new kit, I realised the connecting parts between resin blocks and small parts are more diligently chosen not to harm the parts when seperating from casting blocks and fragile parts like rifle barrels are strong.

    Very Highly Recommended
Highs: Very nice sculpt, high quality cast, water slide decal sheet for patches.
Lows: Not much lows for this figure maybe the missing barbed wire on the Rhah stick can be a low for perfectionists. :)
Verdict: Another unique character to display with the other figures of the series.
